Best Ulcerative Colitis Diet Plan Advice

A colitis diet plan is one of these things that could be debated. Let’s agree not to debate something that makes a ton of sense…

You need a diet plan for your colitis or other chronic inflammation type disease. A diet plan for colitis is like having a map to find treasure.

Absolutely Necessary!

A diet plan when you have Ulcerative Colitis or Crohn’s Disease or any type of IBD/IBS issue is CRUCIAL.

When you ask an MD they say things like “colitis isn’t effected by diet. It’s stress related” and when you ask someone who’s a layman, they will immediately say “well are there certain things you shouldn’t or cannot eat?”

Now notice the difference right there. Two different people with two totally different backgrounds with very different responses. One makes almost no sense while the other is a question with a built in answer. Educated vs. Uneducated perspective perhaps?

Let’s see…

Colitis Diet Plan From A Naturopath

Now when you ask a naturopath for a colitis diet plan, well then there’s a totally different story all together. First things first, a naturopath is going to go ahead and test you for food sensitivities after they explain to you what is happening in your gut with regard to why you have this internal inflammation.

And they should explain why things are going the way they are inside of you.

Due to the fact that with ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s disease you’ve got bleeding and ulceration in the colon, there is going to be a transference of waste fluids into the blood stream at some point. I didn’t realize this until I was sick for a few years. When I really focused in on my diet I started to notice certain things made me sicker than others.

I had no naturopath at the time, so I was riding blind and basically had no diet plan for colitis, I just had tons of horrible symptoms.

Let’s get you some sight into this thing

What I had, come to find out, was a good deal of sensitivity to eggs, along with 41 other food types that were tested with the BloodPrint Diagnostic Test from ImmunoLabs.

And I found this out after I sat with my naturopath and he explained that the body can create antibodies to certain foods from having them present in the bloodstream.

This makes sense because you’ve basically got blood where it isn’t supposed to be and then with it being a fluid and me constantly straining with tenesmus all day long, some poop is going to get into your blood. Let’s face it. It just is going to go where it shouldn’t go and it should never be there.

That’s why we’ve all pretty much got some form of leaky gut when we have ulcerative colitis. And to think that a diet plan that avoids certain foods that the body had developed sensitivity to over time is unwarranted.

Well what kind of an idiot would support that mindset? LOL

The savior and provider of my diet plan for colitis was the BloodPrint Test 154 by Immuno Labs down in Boca Raton Florida. These guys have a pretty cool set up where they do this test on your blood for sensitivity of up to 154 different specific foods.

Then you get a report that separates them out and codes them according to level of sensitivity along with a diet plan for ridding yourself of the sensitivities.

What is the BloodPrint test?

Years ago scientists discovered your body has an internal chemical balance that is as unique to you as your fingerprint. Likewise, every food you eat has its own “chemical balance” – a unique set of natural or man-made chemicals.

As your body reacts differently to each and every food, the food you eat each day will enhance proper body chemistry, or disrupt the correct balance. In fact, 95% of the people we’ve tested show that one or more foods they regularly eat cause a toxic reaction in their body.

You might not even notice these toxic reactions. Most of them work at a cellular level, and may cause symptoms that you won’t notice right away. Or, you might not EVER make the connection that what you’re eating is actually damaging your body.

So, nutritious foods you eat (like corn, soy, egg whites, green pepper, whey, or chicken, for example) may actually act like a poison in your body. When you eat foods that form toxins in your system, those foods can cause harmful, chronic problems with your health.

The way we measure how your body reacts to the foods you eat is through the Bloodprint test, which pinpoints the foods that support healthy body chemistry and those that are toxic to you.

The levels are +1 to +4, with a +4 being seriously sensitive. When you have colitis. You do not want to eat these foods t0 which you are sensitive. The key is to help your body recover with as little difficulty as possible.

If your body is constantly producing antibodies to neutralize these foods it has less energy to heal. Also inflammation is being caused by that irritation.

The antibodies are produced for no good reason other than you have eaten the foods and they’ve transferred into your blood through no fault of your own and then your body “did you a favor” (it thinks) and combatted them with antibodies. – basic description of highly complex science.

So now you’ve got this info. You can take the test via your naturopath…

Colitis Diet Plan: What do you do with it?

Well luckily they give you some directives. And the top one is do not eat from sensitive list, just from the good list. Excellent advice.

And disclaimer: apparently some can come back as false positives (unfortunate but true) and therefore some that have a +1 may not be actually a sensitivity issue with your body.

And DO NOT CHANCE IT, stick to the list and the colitis diet plan they give you.

So here’s the cool thing. They give you a diet plan for you to follow. And it’s a rotating diet plan on a 4 day schedule, at least that was the basis for mine. The rotation is super important to not create any other sensitivities while you are reducing and eliminating the sensitivities that are already present.

This plan is sometimes not easy to follow. So remember it’s for your health and for your life. If you want to continue to sit on the toilet all day everyday then keep going to the store and eating whatever crap you want.

And this means usually no restaurant food either. You never know what they are putting in that for the most part. Personal Note: I started the week before Thanksgiving. Which was a nightmare. And I pulled through. You can too!

How did I pull through with the colitis diet plan?

I got support from my family and I stuck that list in my face every time I could. Anyone involved in meals with me knew I had illness and then they knew I had a plan to get rid of the illness. Through the diet as well as many other interventions my naturopath had discovered were part of my treatment for remission.

The above is an important point. Do not be ashamed of having to change your eating and intake because you are sick. I sat for many months ashamed of being sick. I was so strong, I could eat anything, I could do anything. I never got sick. I never had issues with my gut. NEVER.

Then all of a sudden, I start pooping mucus and a little blood. Then more and more and more and I can’t leave the house. I can’t sit down straight because of such horrible proctitis and rectal sensitivity.

Do not do that! Don’t hide. You can get a plan and you can Fight! You will Fight it and you will win against this! Follow me and I’ll help you!.

What Else Did Matt Do With His Ulcerative Colitis Diet Plan?

I made it workable. A plan like this involves a lot of commitment and cooking your own meals. And reading labels. When I was implementing the diet for my colitis I had a hard time getting over some plateaus. The issue was I was spicing things and the spice had certain unsavory elements for me regarding my inflammation.

I had to go super bland. SUPER BLAND. And I’m grateful I did.

Anything you are slightly sensitive to has be removed completely and immediately. Not a drop into your mouth at any cost.

There are no cheat days on this diet.

There are no deviations.

The Importance of a Specific Colitis Diet Plan

Your health is literally in the balance and you need to take it to the utmost level of commitment to get out of the hole of physical and emotional discomfort you may be in at this moment.

What else is crucial is planning for long term commitment to a lifestyle change around food. My naturopath actually has Crohn’s Disease and has beaten it down into remission through this same method. But if he eats even one meatball with some sauce, he gets blood in his stool the next day.

Wild right. This is how serious it can be for some of us with these particular foods.

So we need to know what they are first and then we need to go in and eliminate said foods completely until we have total remission.

Also take all your herbs. Please do not miss doses, it’s just going to prolong your recovery or you will get sick of them and stop all together.

Stay with the colitis diet plan and with the herbalism. It saves lives and livelihoods.
